BA Hons Degree - Costume Construction  for Screen & Stage

Through my studies so far I have further developed my general construction skills to  professional standard.

I have developed pattern cutting skills and researched one hundred years of fashion in the UK (1900-2000)

Corsetry skills  hasve been developed to a good standard, which has provided an understanding of the different techniques and historical accuracy needed for a piece of costume of a particular period.

Independent millinery training was sourced with an understanding of  basic block work, felt work and the various techniques needed.

WORK EXPERIENCE


The Black Cake, Aug 2022- Feb 2023 -  Workroom Trainee

Supporting the Principal workroom with multiple tasks including; prepping making up toiles and garments, Principal and crowd alterations, keeping the haberdashery stock organised, generally supporting the team as required


Theatre Dressing and Wardrobe Maintenance

Duties within the Running Wardrobe Department included:
Laundry, repairs, costume prep for principal characters and cast, backstage dressing and quick changes.

Welsh National Opera, 2021 - Ladies Costume Maker

Working within the ladies department  of the Welsh National Opera preparing costumes for upcoming performances both in house at the Wales Millennium Centre and the touring team.

Duties include; organising character costumes, making toiles and costumes, alterations to previous costumes.


Willow, Series One, 2021 - Ladies Workroom Assistant

Supporting the principal ladies workroom, assisting with making up toiles, garments and assisting the team to ensure that every level of attention was focused on every detail and  finish 

Require to all costumes.


BBC Its My Shout ( IMS)

IMS - 2019 – Mentor
Working under the Costume designer to support trainees within the Costume department on all
films throughout the duration of the summer training programme;

IMS - 2018 - Trainee

Costume Assistant for three short films; Sherlock Jones, Dad, That’s what I ‘Eard, Sit Bangor, The Graduation, Tabard, She's ok, Random Shuffle.

Experience  gained through working on Live productions with TV wardrobe department including; putting together character costumes, booking them out of the wardrobe department, packing up and transporting to filming locations, setting down, returning, booking back in and laundering. 

Nominated  for the Best Costume Trainee  2018


OTHER SKILLS

Qualified Deaf/ Blind Communicator guide and Intervenor, with 15 years experience working
across the deaf, deaf/blind and disability spectrum. Experience of working as a support worker
for physically disabled people and people facing mental health issues
Competent IT skills and developed skills in a variety of software packages including Microsoft
office and design packages such as Sign Lab and Coral Draw and specialised software for Disabled
users (JAWS)
General craft hobbies including; Leathercrafting, jewellery making, beading, needle felting, fabric
flower making, floristry, paper crafts , willow weaving, silver smithing and 3D casting, most of
which are a result of privately sourced training courses.
Clothing printing skills- As part of the general skills needed for a previous business such as design,
plotting & weeding using large format printing machinery, with ability to transfer designs
onto a range of various clothing including; hoodies, T shirts, sportswear, workwear etc
I have my own established studio which is separate from home and happy to provide photographs

INTERESTS

I am sociable  and enjoy spending time with others. I enjoy a challenge, especially improving a given situation. My passion is around anything creative and the opportunity to improve on my skills to learn new things.
